Small Business Monthly celebrated St. Louis' most tenacious female entrepreneurs on February 23, 2022, at their annual luncheon and presented awards to Top Women Business Owners in St. Louis for 2022. Cathey Williamson, CEO of Williamson Financial Management Group, was honored at the event and nine other recipients for the prestigious award. Cathey shared what it took to build her company at the event and in Small Business Monthly's featured article in their newly released March edition. In the late nineties, Cathey worked in retail management and was ready for a career change. She found herself following the markets and always helping fellow retail employees understand their 401k decisions. It was then that the light bulb went off for Cathey. "I knew there were many others out there that needed the help and education." Cathey transitioned to work in the financial services field and, in 2005, launched her firm with a passion for continuing to empower others through financial independence and education. At the event, Cathey shared an early memory from the start of her business. She recalled a trinket game on her desk of a figure trying to lift a giant boulder, a task that seemed impossible. " As I reflect on my journey as a small businesswoman, it was never just me pushing that 'boulder' up the hill to success. Moving that boulder took the strength of my team, our passion for always wanting to do more to help others, and the trust of our clients. The trust of one client led to the referral of another client, and we're proud to be steadily adding to the WFMG firm with clients and employees." Cathey Williamson said in the article, in reflecting on 17 years in business, that she's most proud of assisting her clients in building their futures. "I've seen people grow so much over the years." she said. "Watching people progress has been very satisfying to me."
